"Yeah, but what I'm waiting for is going to be of GOD, and anything
that comes from GOD is worth waiting for as well as worth having."
"I know that's right."
"What's your fantasy CJ?"
"You know, I always said that I wanted a man with a house already
and a career and all the things that make a relationship work. But like I
said,"
CJ continued, "wanting is sometimes better than actually having."
"Well CJ, how can you know if those things will make you happy if
you've yet to have them?"
"Oh Gwen I've had them, and what it made me see is that my biggest
fantasy is just to be loved by a man who wants to love me."
"So you feel that you should settle for less than what you want in and
out of life?"
"No I'm saying that I will get all the things I want, but I will
accomplish it with the man I chose to live my life with."
"Oh well,"
Gwen said dryly.
"Oh well what."
"Just, oh well."
The girls finish off their banana splits to the sound of Anita Baker.
CJ sat nodding her head, with her eyes closed, feeling the music in her
heart. With the stars out, under the LA night heat, the girls sat as
though they were relaxing on the Virgin Islands. As the music played
and love in the hearts and minds of the girls, Gwen looks at the wall
clock and sees it reading 10:30pm.
"CJ, I have not had a day like this in a long time and I thank you for
it. I only hope you allow me to return the favor. Jes and I have a
guestroom that we never use and you're welcome to spend the night
anytime."
"What, are you getting ready to go?"
"Yes, GOD'S day is tomorrow and I need to get some sleep."
"Well, I do thank you for the offer to have girls night at your place
next time and I thank you for coming over, I had fun too."
Gwen picked up her shoes and took her bowl to the kitchen.
"I'll give you a call later in the week,"
Gwen said as she removed her
coat from the closet.
"OK, can you lock the door on your way out?"
"Sure,"
Gwen said as she walked out.
Gwen arrived home to find Jes already in bed. She decided not to
awaken her because she was tired herself. Instead, she decided to take a
quick bath and go to bed. Once Gwen had finished her bath and gotten
dressed for bed, Gwen got on her knees and thanked the LORD for the
day she had just been given and also for the love that she knew HE
would be sending her one-day. When she had finished, she said aloud,
"AMEN" and "thank you LORD," and got into bed.
