"I can remember the way my mother would hold me, never letting go
first. She would just hold me until I broke the embrace. I can still feel
her everyday. I can sense that she and my father are with me daily. I
know that they are with me."
Gwen wiped her eyes as CJ walked up
behind her to give her a sisterly embrace.
"I can feel them with you also," CJ said compassionately.
While the girls stood and looked at the falling rain, they noticed a
small car turning into the driveway.
"I almost forgot we had food coming," Gwen said as she continued to
dry her face.
"Tanya is on her way," Cupid told Charles and Michelle who were
preparing an after dinner snack tray.
"Good, 'cause I'm ready to eat," Charles said as he took a piece of the
fruit that decorated the tray.
"Is she bringing the game you've been talking about?" Michelle asked.
"Yeah, that's why she's so late," Cupid explained.
"She was on her
way here when she realized that she had forgotten the game."
"Good because I know it's some secrets that both you and Charles are
keeping and I aim to find out just how many there are tonight. Tell me a
little more about this game, I'd like to be more versed on it."
"Basically, the four of us will sit under a colored light and we'll take
turns rolling a dice. On the dice there is shape, you pull the card that
corresponds with the shape on the dice and confess your confession."
"It's that simple?"
"It's that simple if you don't have anything to confess," Cupid said as
he smiled at Michelle.
Michelle was a preschool teacher. It was one of the encumbrances
that attracted Charles to her. Though she was beautiful, her love for
future generations was the shining star that brought them together.
Michelle garnished a mahogany complexion with a thin facial bone
structure that complimented her five foot seven inch frame. She toted a
short naturally curly afro and brown puppy dog eyes. She was a fitness
buff and believed that the body complimented the mind so you should
keep it fit. She believed in the traditional values, marriage before family
and career before marriage. She also believed that however a man's
relationship was with his mother was important, because then she knew
where she stood as far as him respecting her.
Charles proceeded to set the dinner table so that all would be ready
upon the arrival of Tanya. Both Charles and Michelle were meeting
Tanya for the first time. Cupid talked about her quite often, but
somehow or another they had never been able to meet until now. Cupid
offered to help with the dinner preparations, but both Michelle and
Charles told him he was a guest and said he would be in the way. Being
denied, Cupid found his way back to the sofa where he watched the
ending of the Jamie Foxx Show and finished the last of his Barqs root
beer.
Tanya arrived a little after eight o'clock with the game Carpet
Confessions in one hand and roses for Cupid in the other. She wore blue
jeans and a white shirt, black dress boots and a black leather jacket that
was accompanied by a pearl wrap.
