Tanya looked at Jes, but didn't say a word.
"What is it," Jes asked Tanya? "
I guess the only way is to be blunt
huh?"
As Tanya began to tell Jes what was on her mind, Jes' cell phone
rang.
"Hello,"
Jes answered.
"Hey girl, I was just about to call you. No,
everything's fine, I'm out with one of my co-workers. I know I told you
that I was going to be at home tonight, but after I talked to you this
afternoon, I decided that I did need to get out."
Tanya drove silently as Jes continued her conversation.
"Well have fun, we're going to get drinks and I'll be home later. Say
me. I love you to," Jes said as she hung up with Gwen.
"Isn't it funny how you can think of someone, and all of a sudden you
see or hear from them?" Jes asked Tanya.
"Yeah," Tanya replied dryly. "Is everything OK?"
"Everything is fine," Jes replied. "So what did you want to tell me?"
Jes asked.
"Oh, never mind," Tanya replied.
As they pulled up into the parking lot of the Shark Bar, Tanya
recognized one of her girlfriend's vehicles.
"I'll bet she's probably been here thirty minutes at least," Tanya said
as she parked.
Getting out of the vehicle, Tanya could see movement in Xavia's car
and she wondered if she was waiting for her. As she got closer, she saw
the car door open and Xavia get out of the car. She was a short, stocky,
dark skinned girl, with finger waves. She drove a Land Rover and always
wore some type of pantsuit.
"It's about time you got here," Xavia said with sarcasm.
"Hey girl," Tanya said happily.
Tanya hugged Xavia and introduced Jes. Pleasant hellos were
exchanged between the two girls and they proceeded into the restaurant.
"Where are Traci and Adreonna?" Tanya asked.
"As if I'm their keeper," Xavia said.
"I thought you were all coming together?"
"So did I, but I got a message from Onna and she said that she had a
stop to make first."
"Oh," Tanya said, "so they're coming together?"
"I guess," Xavia replied.
While they stood waiting for service, Adreonna and Traci arrived.
"Hey," They spoke loudly.
"Well, its about time," Xavia said.
"You know LA traffic on a Friday night," Traci replied, "besides it
looks like ya'll just gettin' here anyway."
"No," Xavia said defensively,
"They just getting here, I've been here for
the last thirty minutes."
