Well dressed was Allen's initial observation of the two men.
"Pleasure to meet the both of you," Allen said as Mr. Douglas
continued his introduction of the two men.
"Mitchell will be the Marketing Director of Sales in Orlando, and
Andrew will be the Marketing Director of sales in Toronto. I felt it
necessary for the two of them to meet with you since you will be opening
both of their stores."
Allen paused for a moment to capture what was said. He looked
quickly at the two men. Mitchell was a clean-shaven tall slender white
man, who had a trusting face. He wore a blue pin-stripped Canali suit
with a white shirt and a pair of beige Hush Puppies. Andrew on the other
hand was a brother. He was also clean-shaven and tall. He wore a black
tailor made suit with a cream vest and black shirt and black speckled tie.
He wore a pair of pearl white and black loafers from the Kenneth Cole
Collection. Again, Allen thought both men were well dressed.
"Ted, you said opening their stores, right?" Allen asked with
confusion.
"Yes, the partners and I have decided that with your track record of
achievement, why do we need to meet with you to discuss whether or not
you will be the candidate to open the stores. We have decided that you
are the candidate."
"So what is the purpose of this meeting?"
"Well let's just say, that the purpose of this meeting is,
" Mr. Douglas
began searching for words as he called for the elevator, "breakfast. We
can say that this meeting is about breakfast."
"Great, let me inform my secretary and we're off."
Allen turned and headed for Mary's desk thinking of why Mr. Douglas
didn't inform him of the new plans. After he had Mary make all the
arrangements for a perfect meeting, Allen thought aloud, "Couldn't he
have said something?"
"Is everything alright Mr. Anthony?" Mary asked.
"No. I am not going to be having that meeting after all. Mr. Douglas
has already made the decision for me to open the new stores."
"That's great, what's the problem then?" Mary asked with excitement.
"We didn't need to have a meeting for him to inform me of that.
Furthermore, he brought two new guys with him for me to meet, and I
had no idea that they were coming."
"So are you telling me," Mary said as she began to understand that
her preparations were in vain,
"all that work I did was for nothing?"
"You got it. So in place of the meeting, we are going to have breakfast
so that I can become more familiar with the two new guys."
"Well have fun, I'll break down the conference room and call Mrs.
Beasley's and cancel the order."
"Thank you Mary, I don't know what I would do without you," Allen
said as he headed back to the foyer where the three men waited.
"I'm all set to go,"
Allen said as he approached the breakfast club.
"Now Allen," Mr. Douglas said as they entered the elevator "I've heard
about this place called Roscoe's Chicken n' Waffles. You've got to take
me there."
